According to Google: A tough, aggressive, or uncooperative person
According to Urban Dictionary: A badass isn’t someone wears ripped leather jackets, a badass isn’t someone who breaks stuff to look tough, and a badass isn’t someone who fights for the fun of fighting. That’s the definition of a poser. Being a badass is completely different.According to Me: A badass is someone who doesn’t take no for an answer, and will fight for what they believe in, wether it be with physical, psychological, or any kind of attacks. They are passionate about what they believe in and can come in many shapes and forms.
Although the term “badass” typically conjures up images of men in tight pants with revealing shirts and guns with infinite supplies of ammo, you would be surprised to know that there is more than one kind of badass. Although they can come in that shape or form, they can also be people like Rosa Parks or Martin Luther King Jr, or Mother Theresa. A badass can be any age, any ethnicity, and be as smart or stupid as you want. They can have mental deficiencies or disorders, because ultimately, being a badass isn’t about how you look.
Like appearance, there is a wide range of attitudes badasses can have. Generally, however, there is one thing that really makes them stick out like a sore thumb. They are both stubborn and passionate. If anything they love or believe in is threatened, they will go to any measure to protect it. If something is missing, they will find it, if something is broken, they will fix it. Perhaps the most important trait of a badass is that they are willing to give their life for what they believe in. Badasses can not be swayed by anyone, and are not afraid to make enemies in the process of fighting for what they believe in, by whatever means they see appropriate. Bear in mind, however, that badasses aren’t always the good guys, a bad guy can be just as badass as the good, it’s just sometimes they don’t win. Sometimes.
Because of the flexibility of the term “badass”, they can go from being very heavy on curses, to just speaking up and using elaborate vocabulary to stump their opponents. They are also known for coming up with nicknames for their opponents, like in Maximum Ride, where Max came up with nicknames for people she didn’t know the name of. There is no strict set of vocabulary for being a badass, as it’s more of a mindset than a club.
